Description
This class is designed to get you started in leatherwork. There will be a short discussion on pattern making. You will then be able to cut out the three pieces of veg tan kangaroo leather from our patterns. Then we burnish some sides.
We will use pricking irons to make the neatly and evenly spaced stitch holes.
Next process is to hand saddle stitch the top pocket base and then saddle stitch the edge of the wallet.
We will be using a stitching pony to hold the wallet while we saddle stitch.
We finish with a burnish around the edge of the wallet.
This makes a very slim, very light wallet that takes 2 – 3 cards & some cash. It sits flat and nice in the pocket. A worthy item to take home.
The class is expected to take 2 to 3 hours depending on progress.
Class dates: Thursday 16th June & Saturday 18th June 9:00 am. Maximum 6 students.
As well, there will be a special makers kit available to the class members with a special saving. It includes a stitching pony, needles, waxed thread & some leather to get you started at home.
