Description
Howard Adjuster – Small – 1/4″ Thread Rod (current model)
Woodworker, teacher and author, Bob Howard invented this adjuster for use on Lie-Nielsen Toolworks Low Angle Block Plane (102), Standard Angle Block Plane (103) & Small Shoulder Plane (041). It is manufactured on CNC machinery in South Australia.
It is designed to replace the factory adjuster. Made from billet brass its feature is a sealed bearing that avoids the adjuster from ‘catching’ the plane blade causing it to try, or in fact move, sideways. It removes all of the friction between the adjuster and the plane blade to give silky smooth effortless operation. The diameter of the knurled knob is increased to give more purchase and particularly, more precise fine blade adjustment..
Please note: Lie-Nielsen changed the threaded rod width on their Low Angle Block Plane and Standard Angle Block Plane around 2002/2003. The current model thread width is 1/4″ thread width, the earlier model is 3/16″ thread width.
This Howard Adjuster is for the later (current) 1/4″ threaded rod.
