New date for our next Hand Plane Tuning & Tool Sharpening Course soon..

This is a hands on intensive five hour class on tuning hand planes, comprehensively renovating old, and fine tuning new, and sharpening them to a razor sharp finish every time.

We will also sharpen all types of chisels including bevel edge, mortise, butt & Japanese chisels.

Sharpening free hand versus sharpening with a honing guide discussion.

Handscrapers are extremely useful (cheap & effective) tools as long as they are sharp. We will sharpen rectangular & concave/convex hand scrapers and affect the burr edge.

Hopefully time will permit to allow us to also sharpen workshop & chef knives.

This course is hands on, so all students will have the opportunity to use sharpening guides, waterstones, steel lapping plates, burnishers and more.

Students are welcome to bring any personal tool for  analysis for renovating or a sharpening strategy.

We will provide a coffee break.

The total course fee is $149. The course is strictly limited to 6 students.

Hand Plane Tuning & Tool Sharpening Class

Thanks for running the sharpening course, I found it a relaxed forum in which I picked up quite a few handy tips.
The course demonstrated several practical approaches to tuning and sharpening tools which I now use to make the sharpening process quicker and more effective.

I would encourage anyone to join you in a future course as I am sure they will take away useful nuggets of knowledge.
Kind regards,
